Once the Dreamweaver template has been created rather
than updating all Child pages to accept this template it will be necessary
to do the following:
Overview:
Using the template 'main_template'
create new pages for the links/child pages.
Eg: Air.htm, Cruises.htm, Resorts.htm, Galleries.htm
etc.
Including the' index.htm' pages from other subfolders
within the Caribe Travel (Unit 9) Site..
How to Achieve:
1. Once the template file has been completed in its entirety,
with all editable and
non-editable regions in place and saved as main_layout.dwt
Go to File > New (select the Template
Page) > select
your template file (main_layout) and click
'Create' button.
This now creates a new page based on your original page
layout.
'Title' the page and place some content in the
'editable' region
(EG: "This is the 'Cruises' page").
Then save the pages named respectively back to
their original folder locations,
thereby overwriting the original pages which previously
had no template applied.
Air.htm, Cruises.htm, Resorts.htm etc..
The idea being that all pages have the template applied
and the editable and
non-editable regions are in place.
Should you at any time need to edit one of the non-editable
regions of a child page,
the page may be detached from Template by doing
the following:
Go to Main top Dreamweaver Menu > Modify > Templates >
Choose 'Detach from Template'.
The page is now independant and may be fully edited
and saved.
